You Are My Sunshine

So it's now been nearly six weeks since ASOS announced its partnership with Primark and the budget retailer became available online for the first time. The discovery proved to be a very exciting, yet very dangerous one (mostly exciting though). Primark is probably the most stressful place to shop, EVER. It's always crammed full of people, it's so unbelievably disorganised and they only ever seem to have two people on the tills even though there's like fifteen tills and the queue is usually out the door. ASOS cuts all this out PLUS clothes are beautifully modeled by tall, skinny, gorgeous women. Of course this is a major double-edged sword: it makes me buy loads of stuff that I most definitely would never have considered had it been caught on a fellow shopper's high heel and dragged around the floor (as it no doubt would have in store). A prime example is this dress, which I wore to my cousin's wedding at the weekend. Admittedly it was hardly going to break the bank at only £15, but seeing it modeled on her was enough to confirm that I would be buying this dress rather than donning one of the many dresses I already own (and am still yet to wear). I really loved wearing it this dress and I paired it with these perspex pointed heels - which I can only describe as being the devil reincarnated. They are literally the most painful shoes I have EVER worn, but they look pretty cool. I purchased them from this eBay seller (make sure you size up about five times!). I also wore these ankle cuffs for extra detail, plus they're almost free.

It's a shame ASOS are only planning to stock Primark for a few months. I genuinely think the high street world would be a better place if Primark stores were banned from the high street and exiled to the online world...

Long Live

Top: Topshop | Skirt: Miss Selfridge | Shoes: Peacocks (RIP) | Necklace & Handbag : Primark

A final outfit from my holiday. I bought this skirt last year after falling in love with it on the website. Then dipped hem skirts/dresses/everything got really popular and I stopped wearing it, but I thought it was nice to take on holiday. I've debated selling it a few times, but I just think it's too pretty! On the subject of selling things, I've recently joined Depop, which is a really easy way of selling/trading unwanted clothes. You can download the app onto your phone, take a picture and upload it straight to the site where you can either sell it at a set price or have people make you offers. It's really easy to use and it's an alternative to eBay (minus the selling fees!). I haven't put anything on there yet, but I have a black sack full of clothes that I ordered during the dreaded last month or so of uni and never returned so I'm planning to upload some things soon!

This week I bought a desk for my room. This sounds really boring, but I was actually really excited about bringing some organisation into my life. When I was at uni I was super organised with everything (apart from library loans - hello £134 fine!), but since finishing and moving back home I've found all of that has kind of gone out the window! For example, I misplaced my glasses for like a month and forgot to order new contact lenses, so for the last few weeks I've been squinting a lot and suffering from headaches. Plus I find it really difficult to be productive when I'm working on my bed/sofa (usually turns into nap time). I've seen a few blogs do posts about their 'blogging space', so I might do something like that when it's all finished/organised again.

Back to the Island

Top: Boohoo | Shorts: Boohoo | Shoes: Tesco | Necklace: Primark

Another outfit from my holiday. The good thing about holidays (other than the sun and the beach and the free pass to eat as many ice-creams as you want) is being able to actually wear all the clothes you bought for England's almost non-existent summer (bar this weekend). You buy a ton of cropped vests and sandals, but deep down you're just kidding yourself. Either that or you end up having to make 3 outfit changes on one of the few sunny days we get just to make use of the clothes. This outfit was kind of inspired by my recent addiction to Mad Man and Betty Draper's style, although Peggy is my favourite character so far (I've only watched season one so far, so don't shoot me!). I absolutely love these shorts and I really want to wear them everyday. I was amazed when I saw these fluro jelly sandals for just £6 in Tesco of all places. I was so excited I bought two pairs (the other in bright orange). Bargain!

Lullaby

Dress: ASOS | Necklace : H&M | Shoes : Peacocks

If the backdrop to these photos looks a little more exotic than what you'd expect from the average Surrey garden, then that's because these photos were not taken in my Surrey garden. Two and a half thousand miles in a south-eastern direction and you're in the right neighbourhood. I spent the last week on holiday with my boyfriend in Dalyan, Turkey - and yes, it was completely lush. The grueling final weeks of my degree immediately followed by taking on a load of extra hours at work meant a holiday was absolutely required - and bloody well deserved, too. I had never been to Turkey before so the prospect of exploring somewhere completely new was really exciting. We did the usual touristy stuff: mud baths, natural springs, turtle sanctuary, ancient ruins which are really impressive at the time but just look like a giant pile of rocks in the photos. That kinda stuff. But we also went a bit further afield and visited a very pretty gorge (as gorges go, so I'm told) and went water rafting which was really fun. I had such a lovely time, but back in cloudy England and due back to work tomorrow means lounging around the pool drinking iced coffee couldn't seem further away #sadface.

One thing I love about going on holiday is having an excuse to get dressed up for dinner every night. I bought this dress from ASOS shortly before going away - desperate to get as much use out of my student discount card as possible in the last remaining weeks before it expires foreverrrr. I can't find it on the website now, but it was a choice between this green or coral and I was completely torn. I asked twitter's opinion and when I didn't get a reply within ten seconds I decided to go for the green. I spent the rest of the evening randomly receiving "get coral" tweets. Whatever.

I would be well and truly depressed about being back from Turkey if I hadn't received a bit of an exciting email upon touching down at Gatwick last night. I Don't Give a Funk is an up-and-coming digital publication focused on raw and edgy fashion, music and culture. Their first issue is out this summer and I'm really excited to be part of it as one of their fashion writers! This magazine has a lot of ambition so it's going to be a lot of work - especially as I'm already working almost full-time, but I can't wait! You can follow IDGAF on twitter here to keep up to date.
